Notable Privacy Policy
Effective July 30, 2026
Notable is built so that your recordings and ideas stay yours. The short version: Notable collects no data about you.
Where your recordings live
- Your recordings, their titles, markers, folders, favorites, and settings are stored on your device.
- Playback, pitch shifting, trimming, and MIDI transcription all run on your device. Your audio is never sent to us — Notable has no servers and cannot see your recordings.
- Notable has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking.
iCloud Backup (optional, on by default)
With iCloud Backup on, your recordings and their details are also stored in your personal, private iCloud using Apple’s CloudKit — the same private storage your other apps use. It counts against your iCloud storage, is protected by your Apple account, and is accessible only to you: we cannot read it. This is what lets a new or erased phone restore your library. You can turn it off any time in Notable’s settings.
Location (optional)
If you enable Location-Based Naming, Notable reads your location once when a recording starts and asks Apple's geocoding service to turn those coordinates into a street or neighborhood name, which becomes the recording's title. The coordinates are used only for that lookup and are not stored by Notable or associated with your recording. You can turn this off any time in Notable's settings, and the feature never runs without your permission.
Sharing
When you choose to share a recording or an exported MIDI file, it is handed to the app or service you pick through Apple's standard share sheet. What happens to it after that is governed by the service you shared it to.
Deleting your data
Deleted recordings are kept for 30 days in Recently Deleted, then removed permanently — including their iCloud backup copy. Deleting a recording permanently from Recently Deleted removes it from your device and your iCloud immediately. Because nothing is ever stored with us, there is nothing further to request or erase.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
